I don’t even know where to begin to talk about Ian & Cassie’s Roaring Camp wedding in Santa Cruz (technically in Felton). I have gotten to know Cassie & Ian well over the last 9 months since they moved to Santa Cruz a month after I did. Though my husband knew them before me, we have all since bonded over being transplants to the Santa Cruz area. It has been so fun to hear all about their wedding plans throughout all the different stages of planning. Their Santa Cruz engagement photos are one of my favorite sessions to date, and is also my first engagement film as I launched the wedding video side to my business. I couldn’t wait for their big day to arrive.Their wedding day was filled with lots of laughter, sweet moments, tons of love, and one epic dance party! Guests arrived at Roaring Camp to board a train that took us all to a grove of redwood trees for their wedding ceremony. After a train ride back to Roaring Camp their reception was held in Bert Harte Hall and the surrounding grounds reminiscent of an 1880’s town. After some touching speeches and a delicious dinner (breakfast for dinner may be the best wedding food I’ve had) they got on to the party. It was such a blast and I was so honored to be able to photograph their wedding!
One of my favorite touches that they incorporated into their wedding is having a cupcake at each place setting as guests sat down for dinner. Ian proceeded to tell a story about his mother who has the saying, “Life’s too short, eat dessert first!”
