Photos of my own wedding, in Crested Butte, Colorado. I don’t even know where to start this post. Being a wedding photographer I have been to countless weddings so when it came time for my own, I was overwhelmed with the possibilities and ideas. Initially we were thinking of getting married near Denver but with only getting engaged in January and wanting a summer wedding that same year, we didn’t have a lot of time to plan. Some of my favorite venues only had open dates on days I was already booked so we started thinking of other ideas for places for our wedding. John brought up Crested Butte, and I instantly agreed. We went camping and hiking there the summer before and I was blown away by the beauty of the mountains and wildflowers that abound there. My only hesitation was the distance, as it is about a 5 hour drive from Denver and most of our guests would be flying to Denver and then have to make the drive to Crested Butte. I knew when everyone got there they would understand why it was worth it.
We settled on Crested Butte Mountain Resort. We chose to have our wedding ceremony on the top of a mountain at the Painter’s Boy site and our reception just behind there in the tent at 10 Peaks. It may seem crazy that we booked it without actually seeing the site in person but it was completely covered in snow at the time. I spent hours searching any possible photos and blogs that I could find and I knew it was going to be amazing. It exceeded all I had ever imagined. It was at the most prime time for wildflowers and the site was covered in them. Though it had rained the day before and rained every day after, it only rained for about 10 min while I was getting ready. It was perfect! I feel so lucky that we got to have such a special day in an amazing place with all of our closest friends and family. My beautiful flowers and centerpieces were done by my sister in law who is a florist in Salt Lake City and owns Poppy Flower & Design. My sister made most of the desserts on our dessert buffet and they were amazing. My good friend Kara did my hair and makeup and is an amazing stylist at Salon Foushee. The staff at Crested Butte Mountain Resort were amazing to work with. A big thank you as well to our amazing photographer and friend David Fiser.
